Hong Nguyen
Hong Nguyen is an internationally recognised customs professional with nearly three decades of experience. She has served as a Technical Officer at the World Customs Organization (WCO) and as Vietnam Customs’ first Customs Counselor to the WCO, contributing extensively to global customs policy and practice.
She has led major research projects in Green Customs, Supply Chain Management, the Circular Economy, and Capacity Building. As a WCO-accredited expert on Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) programs, she has played an active role in international workshops and conferences as a trainer, speaker, and moderator.
Her WCO career included contributions to the SAFE Framework of Standards, air cargo security guidelines, and the AEO validation e-learning course, alongside technical assistance initiatives in plastic waste management and coordinated border management.Across her 29-year tenure with Vietnam Customs, Hong held senior roles including Deputy Director of the Customs Modernization and Reform Board, Deputy Project Manager of the Vietnam Customs Modernization Project, and ultimately Vietnam’s first Customs Counselor to the WCO.
