Jamal is a Senior Lecturer and the CCES's Middle East Regional Manager.
Jamal is a customs expert with over twenty-five years’ experience in international trade and customs, rules of origin, tariff schedules and audits, classification and taxation, review of customs cases, formulating customs policies and planning strategies and projects.
Jamal has a comprehensive understanding and appreciation of trade and customs issues across the Middle East region and has been a member of the World Customs Organization (WCO) working group which discusses harmonized tariff systems and rules of origin. He has also represented Jordan Customs at the WCO Council Sessions and Capacity Building Committee Sessions.
Jamal was a leading customs specialist in the USAID AMIR 1 & 2 funded programs, dealing with customs issues including ASEZA Project; and World Trade Organization (WTO) issues related to the accession of Jordan to the WTO.
Jamal has previously held the positions of Assistant Director, Amman Customs, and Head of International Conventions and Agreements in the Customs Authority of Jordan. He was also the Deputy Chief of Party for Jordan Customs Administration Modernization Program (CAMP). Jamal has lectured extensively in training programs conducted in Kuwait and Jordan.
