Across more than five decades, Mr Morris has been a leading figure in regulatory compliance, trade facilitation, and border management across the public and private sectors. His career spans senior roles in customs, biosecurity, transport security, and international freight forwarding, including serving as Interim Director General of the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA) in Switzerland. In this role, he was entrusted with redefining and rebuilding the global industry body, engaging with members in over 100 economies and collaborating closely with European governmental and non‑governmental organisations. His work has consistently centred on improving regulatory processes, strengthening governance, and advancing international standards for cargo movement and supply chain management.
Mr Morris has held influential leadership and advisory positions with national, regional, and global organisations, developing long‑standing relationships with entities such as the World Customs Organization, United Nations agencies, the International Civil Aviation Organization, and major customs administrations including the United States and the European Union. As the longest‑serving Executive Director of the Customs Brokers and Forwarders Council of Australia, he played a pivotal role in shaping Australia’s border regulatory landscape and driving industry‑government collaboration. Now retired from day‑to‑day operations, he continues to mentor emerging professionals and support organisations in strengthening their regulatory compliance and strategic capability.
