CCES Supports Pacific Customs Modernisation Workshop

CCES was pleased to contribute to a Customs Modernisation Workshop, which was jointly hosted by the Oceania Customs Organisation and Vanuatu Customs in Port Vila from 18-21 April 2023.

SixteenPacific Island Countries attended the workshop, which focused on several key Conventions, including the Revised Kyoto Convention (RKC), the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA), the HarmonisedSystem Convention and the Vienna Convention on Illicit Drug Trafficking. CCES Associate Professor Mark Harrison provided an overview of the development of international customs conventional law and its impact on domestic legislation. He also facilitated sessions on accession to and compliance with the RKC and the TFA. 

Participants expressed their strong support for the range of vocational and degree programs delivered by CCES. In return, CCES stressed its commitment to continuing to partner with the OCO and its members in supporting their customs modernisation objectives.
