Public Private Dialogue in Myanmar

In order to attract a greater level of foreign investment in the ‘ready-made garment’ sector, the Myanmar Government has recently implemented a Customs bonded warehouse regime which will include ‘manufacturing bonds’.  To promote the initiative, a Public Private Dialogue was held via Zoom this week with participants including the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations, the Directors-General of the Customs Department, the Department of Investment & Company Administration, and Department of Commerce, along with heads of all relevant industry bodies including the Garment Manufacturing Association, the Freight Forwarders Association, and the Chamber of Commerce & Industry.  Dr Rob Preece of CCES was invited to give a key-note presentation on the implementation process, including an overview of the new regulations, the licence application process and responsibilities of licensees.
