Over the past few weeks CCES has been supporting the Seychelles Revenue Commission (SRC) Transformation Program through online training and in-country workshops to enhance SRC staff knowledge and understanding of risk and compliance management.
The online training delivered by Prof. David Widdowson and Chris Lawson consisted of seven online events. Four Level 1 courses, introduced the basics of compliance management with a general enterprise focus, followed by three Level 2 courses, with a focus on tax and customs risk-based compliance management.
The support by CCES concluded with the delivery of three in-country workshops facilitated by Chris Lawson, putting the theory into practice and producing a risk-based compliance management table identifying risks affecting customs, tax and the organisation, the level of risk, and mitigation strategies to address those risks.
The first two workshops were primarily attended by those SRC staff who attended the Level 1 and 2 online training courses, while the final workshop was attended by 25 senior managers including the Deputy Commissioner General, Mr. Fred Morel. The objective of the final workshop was to review and enhance the earlier findings to help develop the SRC Strategic Plan and support the implementation of risk-based compliance management strategies within the organisation.
